Mr. Meaty was created by Jason Hopley and Jamie Shannon and is geared toward tweeners (those who are no longer little kids but still not quite teenagers), but is reaches a much larger audience. This juvenile comedy is set at a fast food restaurant, Mr. Meaty and the stars of the show are two teenaged puppets, Josh and Parker.
Meet Josh Redgrove (voiced by Jamie Shannon), the cashier at Mr. Meaty. He hates his job and would rather spend his time talking to girls. He works with his best friend, Parker Dinkleman (voiced by Jason Hopley), who is the fry cook at Mr. Meaty. Unlike Josh, he likes his job and is a bit of a geek.
Each episode runs approximately 12 minutes and each half hour block usually has two episodes in it. Except for the episode, Model Employee, which ran for the full half hour, minus commercials of course.
This is a very creative show although the humor can be a bit lowbrow at times and the show has come under scrutiny from some extremists groups who don’t appreciate the tomfoolery, but kids sure do.
Both the show and the theme song are getting flack from groups who just don’t get it. The show is making fun of everything. Vegans and carnivores a like. Heck the owners name is Carny – get it now? The theme song has a bunch of religious groups up in arms due to the use of one little word. It is called freedom of speech people – and not everyone has the same god, so chill out.
The offending lyrics are: All gods creatures fresh off the grill. So come on down to Mr. Meaty where friends meet to eat MEAT!
