MARVEL ZOMBIES VS. ARMY OF DARKNESS GOES BACK TO PRESS AS CAPTAIN AMERICA BATTLES ZOMBIE FOES

New 2nd Print Variant Cover Pays Tribute to Captain America #1

March 20 2007, Runnemede, NJ - DYNAMITE ENTERTAINMENT released images and information announcing the second print variant cover of Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness #1 - which pays special "zombified" tribute to Captain America by featuring a rendition of the classic cover to Captain America #1 by Marvel Zombie master cover artist Arthur Suydam! Of the new cover, Dynamite President and Publisher Nick Barrucci stated: "Arthur has once again knocked it out of the park!

This recreation of the Golden Age Captain America #1 is perfect in every detail - and what better way to pay tribute to Cap than to have his Marvel Zombies counterpart taking the battle to a group of evil fascist Zombies! Take that Zombie Hitler!" Marvel Vice President of Sales David Gabriel added, "Retail support for this book was very strong, but it looks like more copies are needed, so we've gone ahead and are offering up a second print variant - featuring a cover that's in homage to Captain America #1 by Arthur Suydam, with a decidedly zombie twist.

Retailers should order enough so that we don't need to do a 3rd print." Marvel Zombies vs. The Army of Darkness is a Five-Issue Limited Series that serves as a direct prequel to last year's hit comic book phenomenon Marvel Zombies. In Marvel Zombie tradition, each issue of the series features a "zombified" cover by painter Arthur Suydam (this time incorporating Ash from Army of Darkness into each "new" classic image), and is overseen by the spiritual guru of the undead himself, Robert Kirkman. This landmark event is written by John Layman with interior art by Fabiano Neves and magnificent coloring by original Marvel Zombies colorist June Chung.

MARVEL ZOMBIES ARMY DARKNESS 2ND PRINTING VARIANT #1 (FEB078043) COVER BY: ARTHUR SUYDAM; WRITER: JOHN LAYMAN; PENCILS: FABIANO SILVA NEVES; INKS: FABIANO SILVA NEVES; COLORED BY: JUNE CHUNG

This is it true believers, the cross-over of the century begins here! The Marvel Zombies come face-to-face with Dynamite Entertainment's Ash from the Army of Darkness! Ash has faced legions of the undead before, but never like this…as he lands in the heart of New York just as the Zombie outbreak begins!

See how his actions help turn more heroes and villains into Zombies! Under the watchful eye of Marvel Zombie guru Robert Kirkman, this might just be the comic event of 2007! Plus: The entire series will feature classic "homage" covers from painter Arthur Suydam!

With the success retailers have had with Marvel Zombies (both the series, the Hardcover collection going to multiple printings and the Ultimate FF appearances), and the sell out of Army of Darkness #13, retailers are asked to double check their orders for Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness #2 (DCD Item # FEB072137) to ensure having enough when the book is in stores.

DYNAMITE OFFERS EXCLUSIVE MARVEL ZOMBIES VS. ARMY OF DARKNESS #1 VARIANT EDITION

marvel zombiesMarch 13th, 2007, Runnemede, NJ - DYNAMITE ENTERTAINMENT today released art and information concerning the exclusive variant cover edition of Marvel Zombies vs. The Army of Darkness #1 -- featuring a "zombified" homage to the classic cover of Uncanny X-Men #137 from the master of Marvel Zombie covers, painter Arthur Suydam! Only 3,000 pieces of this variant edition of Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness #1 were produced!

The Dynamite Marvel Zombies vs. The Army of Darkness #1 variant edition is extremely rare and was made available by Dynamite in conjunction with Marvel. The edition is only available through www.dynamiteentertainment.com, though any interested retailers should contact Dynamite concerning wholesale orders. In addition, the variant edition will also be available as part of Dynamite's spring convention tour beginning through select retailers at the Wizard World LA Comic Con this coming weekend (March 16th - 18th).

Dynamite stated, "Sending Ash to the world of Marvel Zombies and watching all our favorite Marvel heroes and villains become ‘zombified' is a great deal of fun (well, at least for us - sorry, Ash, and really sorry for this Marvel Universe), and we're certain that fans are going to be thrilled with the series and how it ties into the whole Marvel Zombies phenomenon. We worked with our good friends at Marvel to create this variant edition as a way to help promote the series. We want to thank all the fans of the Marvel Zombies and AOD fans that have been lighting up the message boards in anticipation for the series."

Wizard Price Guide guru David Paggi, mentioned the success of Marvel Zombies at wizarduniverse.com, saying, "The zombie crossover to end all zombie crossovers, Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness hits this week, so it's probably a good time to check in on how your original Marvel Zombies issues are doing on the back market. Entire sets, including all printings, have recently sold for upwards of $100, while sets of first prints hover around $50. Hot issues are still first prints of issue #1 at $25 and #3 at $10."

The sold out Army of Darkness #13 was also selected as a "What's Hot Now" feature by David Paggi in the April 2007 issue of Wizard, "Dynamite's Army of Darkness #13 featured an appearance from the Marvel Zombies drawn by Marvel Zombies artist Sean Phillips, gearing up for the Army of Darkness vs. Marvel Zombies crossover. Expect the issue to rise in price as the crossover sparks interest."

Marvel Zombies vs. The Army of Darkness is a Five-Issue Limited Series that will serve as a direct prequel to last year's smash Marvel Zombies series which featured "dynamite" covers by Arthur Suydam, crisp scripts by Robert Kirkman and fantastic art by Sean Philips and colorist June Chung! Marvel Zombies followed the events in Mark Millar's and Greg Land's Ultimate Fantastic Four #24. With the success retailers have had with Marvel Zombies (both the series, the Hard Cover collection going to multiple printings and the Ultimate FF appearances), and the sell out of Army of Darkness #13, retailers are asked to double check their orders for #2 (DCD Item # FEB072137) to ensure having enough when the book is in stores.
