The LEGO Neighborhood Book: Build Your Own Town! By Brian Lyles, Jason Lyles

LEGO Neighborhood BookI will let you read all about the book in the press release below. I picked up this little book after seeing the authors posts on their websites and I wasn’t disappointed (not that I thought I would be after having seen their website). Not only does it give you ideas and building tips on starting or expanding your city, it also goes into great detail to help you furnish said city. This will come as a great reference for me when I go to furnish the apartments above the comic/skate shop building I am working on (photos to come).

I definitely recommend this book for any LEGO fan.

More about the book…

San Francisco, CA, August 5, 2014—The LEGO® Neighborhood Book (No Starch Press, September 2014, 204 pp., 4C, $19.95, ISBN 9781593275716) is an inspiring full-color guide to creating intricate, realistic LEGO buildings and towns. At last, here’s a book for LEGO fans young and old who don’t always know how to turn those little bricks into the town of their dreams. After all, why just build a boring old house when you can create a whole community?

The LEGO Neighborhood Book shows readers how to create buildings with real-world details like cornices, facades, and columns. Readers give interior design a try by filling their buildings with furniture and light fixtures, and then add finishing touches—plants, traffic lights, scaffolding, park benches—to the streets of their neighborhoods.

The heavily illustrated The LEGO Neighborhood Book includes:

  • Complete, step-by-step instructions for four multistory buildings
  • Mini builds for a recliner, old-time lamp post, traffic light, and more
  • A gallery of the authors’ designs
  • A discussion of the design process, including tips for getting started
