Elder Scrolls OnlineI wanted to like The Elder Scrolls Online and I am sure I would have had the game been just a game and not this MMO online crap (not that they are all crap it is just I cannot afford to play them). Loved Skyrim so I thought what the heck I will give it a try. I just got a PS4 and needed something to play on it right. Well, I should have gone with something other than this game.

The game description kept telling me NO SUBSCRIPTION needed to play. Not sure if this game is actually free to play on a PC or not but it is NOT free to play on consoles. I got the PS4 version and it requires a monthly subscription service to PlayStation Plus to even play the game (not just use the online features). I have never traded in a game before as I usually return to them after a year or two and play them again. Not this one. I won’t be playing this again (can’t afford it).

There are a lot of problems like skipping/freezing, but the worst of them is the static and feedback you get during the game from players using their microphones. I heard an entire conversation between a mother and her preteen son about him getting off the game and him refusing to go (“but I’m only at 13%”). And another family using the game play as a way to converse (ever heard of a cell phone). They left the game with a round of I love yous. Worst of all is the constant static and loud feedback sounds coming through my TV (I’m not using a headset nor microphone as I have not paid the monthly fee for those on top of the monthly fee just to play the game). The feedback actually scared my cat off because it was twice as loud as the game sounds. The player talking and other noises would interrupt my game and even block out the characters as they were speaking (thank goodness for the text on the side of the screen).

Nope won’t be keeping this one and don’t recommend it for anyone that does not have or does not want to sign up for the console’s monthly service whether it is PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live. (Game did come with 2 free day trial of PlayStation Plus — should have been a least a week or better yet a month.)

Okay, so game play itself was ok. In fact a lot like Skyrim. So if I wasn’t forced to shell out even more money for a monthly subscription and I did not have to hear everyone else around me, I probably would have kept the game and continued to play. But alas this sucker is getting returned and I will get my money back even if I have to go to Bethesda myself and knock on their door.
